About us

Freemasonry is one of the world's oldest and largest non-religious, non-political fraternal and charitable organisations.  It's values are beased on integrity, kindness, honesty and fairness.  For many its biggest draw is the fact that its members come from all walks of life and meet as equals, whatever their race, religion or socio-economic position in life,

Freemasons make a major contribution to society through their own charities as well as donations through UK charities and worldwide disaster relief funds with members playing an active role in their communities.  Membership is open to people from all backgrounds and our aim is to empower members to be the best they can be.

Freemasonry gives members many opportunities to make a wide circle of friends for life.  Finding bonds with people who share comomon interests and meeting people from all differnent backgrounds are only some of the ways Freemasonry can build lasting relationships.

Freemasonry is all about building character and supporting members as individuals.  It is these foundations that allow members to develop themselves, from increased self-confidence to transferrable skills such as public speaking.

Charity is at the very heart of Freemasonry.  Our members make valuable contributions to deserving causes and it is because of this we are recognised as one of the largest charitable givers in the country, contributing £42 million to deserving causes in 2019.

"The bond of friendship is stronger in Freemasonry than anywhere else I have experienced.  I now have a wider, more diverse circle of friends than I ever thought possible.  I've been guided through my journey in Freemasonry by meaningful, useful and important lessons od self-discovery and integrity.

These lessons truly help me to be the very best I can be."
